Colonial Press, Inc.
Colonial Press was established through the consolidation of two old Boston companies. In July of 1931, Lewis M. Adams, part owner of one of the parent companies, purchased all Colonial stock and moved the company to Clinton. Colonial became a major employer in Clinton. As of September 1960, there were 1,000 people on the payroll. Colonial was one of the largest printing companies in the United States. One of its most notable jobs was the printing of the Warren Commission report. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, major changes took place as the company was sold. By 1977 Colonial was out of business.
