Annah C. Harthan Fay
Annah Fay, 1853-1938, and her children published two local newspapers from around 1907-1926. These newspapers began as the Laborer's Friend and Our Commonwealth. They were later combined into one weekly publication, Woman's Commonwealth, described under the title of each issue as "A Christian and Patriotic, Anti-Suffrage, Temperance News Journal." These publications included scripture passages, religious commentary, local (Princeton) news, and editorials about current events. The Fay Printing & Publishing Co. published and printed these papers, and also printed and sold postcards with poems and scripture. Princeton's town history notes that after the sudden death of Mrs. Fay's husband in 1895, Mrs. Fay and seven of her eight children established a printing office around 1900, in connection with their farm. Note: see "Other Resources" for more Fay materials available at the Princeton Historical Society.
